Upon retiring in 1993, I decided to do something other than play golf so I took drawing and painting classes at UNCA and A-B Tech in Asheville, NC as well as the Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League. I then proceeded to paint landscapes around the area and later gravitated to portrait painting in oils. After tiring of cleaning brushes and the smell of turpentine, I discovered a better way to do it was to paint by using a computer.

I use a Mac Pro computer with dual cinema displays, a Wacom Intros graphics tablet and Corel Painter software.

Take a look in the gallery to see some of my work. These are TRUE paintings, not cloned attempts made by using filters provided in the software. I paint as I would with a live model but use a photograph instead. A blank canvas is on one display to work on while the photo is put on the other for reference. It's painstaking and takes 15 hours or more to complete but well worth it to create a "painterly" result.
